ICE_BOX_1: This is a test of my new snow&ice textbox that I’m thinking of using for areas containing logs, characters, maps, icons, etc…

Hmm, the background color of the ice and snow in these boxes is probably too dark and distracting from the text; it’s not bad, but it’s not optimal, so I’ll lighten it up in my next test run and see if that helps.

ICE_BOX_2: In this box, I’m playing around to see if a snow-edged border would look better than the above simple box border. This image is still very rough, with crusty snow on two sides (theoretically, only 2 sides would have shadows), and a drift or tearing on the bottom edge. This looks like it might be a more attractive option than the blue box border example, especially when placed against the white divider areas in Obsidian Portal, but we’ll see once I make few more tweaks.

ICE_BOX_3: This is a test of the lightened Ice_box textbox that I’m thinking of using for areas containing logs, characters, maps, icons, etc…

In this one, I’ve lightened the ice background and snow so that the text can be more easily read.

ICE_BOX_4: In this box, I’ve lightened the background somewhat and edited the bottom and right borders to be more like a snowdrift.

ICE_BOX_5: This box has a background that I’ve dramatically brightened up.

“Little by little they rose grimly into the western sky; allowing us to witness various bare, bleak and blackened summits…in the reddish Antarctic light against the provocative background of iridescent ice-dust clouds. In the whole spectacle there was a persistent, pervasive hint of stupendous secrecy and potential revelation… I could not help feeling that they were evil things—mountains of madness whose farther slopes looked out over some accursed ultimate abyss.”
